The REAL News

Project REAL is delighted to start our first blog!  We’re looking forward to sharing the highlights of our program including the great strides made by the clients we support, the work that consistently is above and beyond by our staff, and increased interactions with our community members. We’re also looking forward to being of service to all of you in the community. We’ll frequently be posting resources on how to access state and local services and benefits and entitlements to address various needs.

What is Project REAL?

Project REAL is a non-profit residential program that has been proudly serving the mental health community in Nassau County since 1979.  Our teams of professionals treat each resident respectfully and ethically; as unique individuals, and partner with them to determine specific goals, tailored to their wants and needs and then work with them on those goals while they reside in Project REAL housing. We pride ourselves on transforming mental health care by offering compassionate assistance and services to our clients, thereby expanding the realm of possibilities for people who were once only accustomed to the confines of a hospital room.

As a housing agency, currently, Project REAL serves a wealth of residents at their two supervised group homes and multiple apartment programs. To that end, it has been our goal to make sure that the housing provided to clients is truly a home in every way possible. From individualized furnishings, appliances, and décor to assuring that all homes have both wanted and needed appliances, cookware, and dishware to assuring that the houses and apartments are safe, clean, and well maintained; Project REAL exceeds in this area.  With a happy home base, there is no telling what the clients we support can achieve as they go forth into the community.
